Confirmation Sunday, November 9: Baptism, Reaffirmation, and Joining OU
On Sunday, November 9, our church family will celebrate Confirmation Sunday as our 7th and 8th graders affirm their faith in the afternoon. That morning, we’re also creating space in worship for adults to take a next step in faith — through baptism, reaffirmation of faith, or joining OU as members of the church.
What Is Confirmation? Confirmation is a milestone in which those baptized earlier in life claim the faith of the Church as their own, renew their baptismal vows, and profess faith in Jesus Christ before the congregation. While baptism is the sacrament that initiates us into Christ’s Body, confirmation strengthens that covenant — a joyful step of owning faith personally and living it out publicly. On November 9, we invite people of all ages to remember God’s grace and take their next step of faith at OU.
Ways to Participate
- To be baptized for the first time: Fill out this form to schedule baptism in any worship service: ouumc.org/baptism
- To reaffirm or remember your baptism: There are many transitions in life. Each is an opportunity to go deeper in Christ. If you wish to rededicate your life to Christ, fill out the same form and select reaffirmation.
- To join OU: On Nov 9, we’ll have new people joining the church. If you’re ready to make OU your church home, let Emilie Bramlett know, and a pastor will follow up with next steps.
- For infant or child baptism: Baptisms are offered at all three services (8:45, 10:00, 11:00). Email Emilie Bramlett for more information.
As we celebrate our confirmands, we rejoice that God is still calling people of every age to renew their faith, embrace the waters of grace, and belong fully to Christ’s Church.
